Macroplastique Implants are indicated for the treatment of urinary stress incontinence resulting from an incompetent sphincteric mechanism. When implanted at the bladder neck, Macroplastique acts as a soft bulking material augmenting the natural function of the sphincteric mechanism, thus restoring urinary continence.
Recent experience indicates that when Macroplastique is offered as a primary treatment, the elimination or downgrading of urinary stress incontinence can be achieved in most cases.
Macroplastique is a simple day case procedure allowing the patient to return home the same day. The very young, aged or infirm patients may require overnight hospitalization. Patients who have failed previous procedures, or multiple previous procedures, can often respond well to treatment providing significant downgrading or abolition of incontinence and providing the patient with an improved quality of life.
